Connor Murray
Connor Murray is a Nashville-based bluegrass fiddler with Nash Grass Unit, known for his versatile playing, deep musical knowledge, and high-level performance experience across bluegrass, country, and roots music. Originally from the Chicagoland area, Murray grew up in the region’s folk and rock scenes and was a founding member of the School of Rock Oak Park House Band, later winning the 2015 Illinois State Fair Fiddle Contest.
Murray attended Belmont University, where he immersed himself in music theory, history, and performance while studying styles ranging from classical and jazz to traditional fiddle music. He was mentored by acclaimed fiddlers including Michael Cleveland, Ryan Joseph, and Billy Contreras, further refining his technique and musical voice.
Since relocating to Nashville, Murray has built an extensive performance résumé, including appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and televised Christmas at Belmont concerts. He has performed with artists including The Malpass Brothers, Larry Efaw & The Bluegrass Mountaineers, Greg Garing, and others, and has appeared on RFD-TV’s “The Malpass Brothers’ Show.”
In addition to live performance, Murray has contributed fiddle and string work to recordings and music videos for artists including GAYLE, DJ Paul, Young Buck, and Charly Reynolds, showcasing his versatility across genres.
A longtime member of Nashville’s live music scene, Murray’s connection with fellow bandmate Tristen Norfleet dates back to their early years in the bluegrass community. That connection, along with ongoing collaborations with Lucas White, led to the formation of Nash Grass Unit, where his dynamic fiddle playing helps define the band’s high-energy progressive bluegrass sound.
